JAS Position
Lutheran Campus Ministry seeks to serve the campuses in the Halifax Region through the appointment of a JAS (Justice and Action Student). Through a focus on compassion and action on campus and in the community, this student has this mandate:
Personal involvement in social justice issues
Participation in one on-campus justice group
Membership in the Halifax Cluster of Kairos
Attendance at metro social justice events
Encouragement of youth, especially Lutheran youth, to be involved in social justice issues
Organization of and/or participation in on-campus events
Publicizing such events to youth
Other possible projects as time permits
Qualifications
A student at a university or college located in the Halifax Regional Municipality who is connected to a faith community and who has a passion for social justice issues.
Time Required
An average of five hours per week for forty weeks between September and April/May.
Terms of Position
This is a contract position for a term of forty weeks between September and April or May and potentially renewable for two further forty-week terms. Renumeration will be at the rate of $15. per hour.
